It will be up to you to organise your own flight from the UK to Durban (Key Travel, our partners in organising this trip, might be able to help you find flights at a reduced cost).

Running SOULINTHECITY Durban this way means that you should be able to find much cheaper flights (the major cost of the trip) than we would be able to bulk book for 350 of you.





You will need to ensure that you arrive at Durban airport by 4:00pm on the 8th July.

At set times during the arrival day Soul Survivor will arrange several pick up coaches to transport you safely from the airport to the accommodation.

You will also need to ensure that you book your return flight home on the 21st (though see below if you are interested in staying longer and/or arriving earlier).




Please don't book your flights until you have been accepted on the SOULINTHECITY Durban 2009 team. As part of the application process we will need to speak to several referees who will confirm your suitability to be on a team.

Once these are confirmed, we will contact you to let you know your application has been accepted and advise you to book flights from that moment on. Full details of the application process can be found in the application section of the site (MORE...).





You can book your flights with any airline or tour operator you like, it's totally up to you. However, our partners in organising SOULINTHECITY Durban, KEY TRAVEL, may be able to find flights at a good price for you. Get in touch with them directly for more details (MORE...).

There are few direct flights to Durban from the UK so it is likely you will have to change to an internal flight in Johannesburg. If you're looking for the cheapest options then you may have to change several times before you reach South Africa (maybe in Paris or Frankfurt).



As you will be booking your own flights then you have the option of arriving early and staying on longer in Durban. However Soul Survivor will only be responsible for you from when you arrive on the 8th July (either at the hotel or the airport) until 21st July when you leave.

Apart from this time you will be covered by the Key Travel insurance policy (it lasts for 31 days, you’ll need to take out a separate policy for any time spent travelling in excess of this period) but no further activity will be organized as part of SOULINTHECITY Durban.

You will need to arrange and pay for any time you spend in the accommodation before or after these dates direct with the relevant hotels (KEY TRAVEL will be able to help out with any additional accommodation outside of the specific SOULINTHECITY Durban dates. MORE...).

Organising your travel to Durban will be the major thing that you will need to organise yourself.

But you should be Be sure to bring a bit of spending money too (you won’t need loads, just for any souvenirs or stuff you’d like to buy).

As part of the application process will will ask you to nominate to people to provide references for you. It would be good if you asked these people in advance so they aren't surprised when we give them a call!

You are likely to also need to get vaccinations before you travel to Durban. We advise you to talk to your local GP to find out the current health situation in South Africa. Please make sure you get the vaccinations 4-8 weeks before you leave!
